In order to protect children from a myriad of illnesses, day care centers must be up-to-date on all of the latest medical information and supplies available. This includes CPR and basic first aid training, which can potentially save the life of an injured child. They should also know the current immunization requirements. Thankfully, the state of Nevada regulates most of these requirements.
Licensed by the State of Nevada
Parents whose children are enrolled in a day care center licensed by the state of Nevada can rest assured. Nevada has very stringent requirements including training for CPR, first aid, SIDS, and signs of other illnesses. As a result, workers in licensed day care centers are trained to respond to emergencies. This means that parents can rest assured that this training is as up-to-date possible.
CPR
The fact is minutes count, and waiting for help may not be an option. Day care centers must be able to provide CPR, and they must understand the differences between CPR administered to adults versus children or infants. Furthermore, studies have indicated that children are three times more likely to live if they are given chest compressions - a modified form of CPR.
Knowing First Aid
Children are by nature inquisitive beings and can find themselves in situations that result in injuries. Usually these injuries are minor bumps and bruises, but sometimes they can be more life threatening. Even the minor ones can become serious if the right first aid is not administered. That is why it is critical that day care centers provide their staff members with basic first aid training.
The Right Medical Supplies
The right training will not do much good if the day care center does not stock the right medical supplies. Of course, access needs to be easy and the supplies need to be located in a known and centralized location. Some of the basic supplies are bandages, gauze, dressing, tweezers, liquid soap, ice packs, and disposable vinyl gloves. The last is important to avoid allergies to latex gloves.
Immunizations
Day care centers must be up-to-date on what immunizations are required by law in the state of Nevada. This is not just about the day care being compliant, but it is in the best interest of all of the children and staff. After all, immunizations protect the child against potentially life-threatening illnesses, such as diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis, rubella and rubeola.
Parents must know that their children are safe in the hands of a day care center.

People might think that doctors only use medical textbooks to obtain knowledge regarding their field. They would be wrong. They 2011 health survey conducted by Walters Kluwer showed that forty six percent of physicians stated that they do use Google and Yahoo as a frequent source of medical information. Another thirty two percent confessed that they use it as an occasional resource to obtain health information to utilize for patient care.
Over sixty percent of physicians stated that after using an Internet source regarding health information, they had changed an initial diagnosis on one of their patients. Approximately 90% of doctors in the survey felt that better access to online health information and associated online resources has elevated the quality of care that they're providing. Only 12% felt the opposite.
With regards to the doctor patient relationship, almost 80% of doctors say that lack of time is one of the most common barriers to maintaining good communication with their patients. In this day and age of decreasing insurance reimbursement, it is becoming all too common for doctors to need to see more and more patients to be able to cover their overhead. Doctors often need to double book patients a lot of the time to reduce the incidence of no-shows and to increase their collections since a lot of them are making double-digit percentages less than they were 10 years ago.
Just over half of doctors (53%) feel that one of the challenges to a great communication relationship with their patients is misinformation. One of the reasons for this is that over two thirds of individuals obtain health information online. This information is commonly written up in blogs and areas non-referenced or peer reviewed which in the current era provides a lot of misinformation to patients.
Unfortunately what then happens is that doctors need to correct misinformation and then give the appropriate information which they were going to give and then this adds up to a lot of wasted time which only feeds into the situation that doctors are faced with to begin with.
This leads to the other problem that doctors have with the doctor-patient relationship which is information overload. With there being so much information on the Internet now with regards to everything including health, it can be very confusing and disappointing to have to sort through all of this while sitting with the patient. Prior to the Internet coming into existence, patients were not able to acquire such a broad array of medical information.

The internet is being used by more people than ever, with information available online about almost everything. One subject that is extensively covered over the worldwide web is medical information. Many people choose to look online before deciding whether or not they should consult a doctor. There are both negative and positive aspects to this, both of which are outlined in this article.
One of the main problems of the internet is that not all information is accurate, so many take something as fact, which in fact, it is false. With something such as medical information it can lead to many issues. Some may decide not to go to the doctor based on false information they have found online. They may read about something minor they may have and decide to leave it, even if there is the possibility of something more serious. Some believe what they want to believe, so if they read that their issue may be nothing to worry about, they may convince themselves that everything is fine. However, it can also have the opposite effect, with someone convincing themselves they have a serious problem and therefore worrying unnecessarily. People do tend to exaggerate on blogs and forums, so information picked up via these could lead to a more negative prognosis.
After reading something online, some patients may exaggerate their symptoms in their mind because they believe they have a particular condition. Once they do see a doctors this may then make it difficult for them to get a realistic picture of what is wrong with a patient. Some doctors have complained that patients believe too much of what they read, something that has increased massively with the increasing popularity of the internet. This can make a doctor's job more difficult, and in some cases can make it difficult for them to convince a patient that they actually have nothing to worry about. Some patients see what they read online as being from a higher authority than what they are told by a doctor.
There are some potential positives though, to medical information being freely available online. It can ease a patients minds if they realise they are unlikely to be suffering from something they may have had concerns about. Accurate information can be useful. For trivial things patients being able to carry out research on their own can have its advantages, as they may decide not to go to a doctor, saving them time. This of course, is only a good thing if the information they have read is genuine.
Patients researching online and then visiting a doctor can be helpful, not just to the patient, but to the doctor as well. No doctor can know everything, so it is possible that a patient can find some useful information and then tell the doctor about it. This may be something the doctor does not know about or had not thought about, and therefore could complement the service being offered by the doctor.
You should always go to the doctor if you are concerned about a serious medical issue. Although there is accurate information available online, there is also a lot of false information. You can't be certain of anything by looking online, so seeing an expert can be paramount. Online medical information should be used for information and not for a complete diagnosis.
